About book Our Totally, Ridiculous, Made-up Christmas Relationship (A Novella) (2013)

This is a quick, funny, cheese ball holiday read which I thoroughly enjoyed. As compared to the other two books by this author, this one is more on the funny, less on the dramatic side. Yes both of our leads have some emotional issues to get past, but do it together with lots of laughs along the way. Jules Stone is a loser in love. After having just about the worst possible thing happen to her, she hasn't bounced back gracefully yet. Jules tells her family she is bringing her boyfriend Richard home for Christmas, just as he dumps her. In a desperate act, Jules hires an actor to play Richard for the week. You can smell the disaster from miles away.According to his family (his mom and aunt excluded) Kayden is on the road to nowhere. He wants to be an actor, but hasn't gotten his big break just yet and is tending bar to make ends meet. He is in manwhore mode to stay safe from the hurt he has felt in the past. Kayden was in the right place at the right time and took the job offered by a desperate Jules. It's road trip time. Deciding to drive to her parents in separate cars, Jules and Kayden get to know each other, finding that they like to trade verbal jabs and sarcasm. After hearing about Jules previous failures in love, Kayden offers her some advice for avoiding guys like them (and him) in the future. When they get to her parents cabin, Kayden sees what kind of trouble he is really in for.Jules isn't a typical gal, she's a famous gal, one that can get Kayden's acting career off of the ground for him. Once he actually meets her family, he sees there is more to Jules's story than she has led on. Let the Christmas games begin! Jules and Kayden try to portray Jules and Richard and at some point Kayden starts to have a hard time playing Richard and just wants to be Kayden around her. The family is absolutely nuts, all the way down to the sexy grandma (ick I know). This is a hilarious Christmas tale that just might make you appreciate your nutty family a bit more. Jules learns about herself, Kayden learns about himself and both families learn to be a little bit nicer to each other. Kayden Reece is trying to follow his dreams of being an actor. Unfortunately, it is hard being the black sheep in a family of successful doctors and lawyers. Jules Stone is the only non-actress in her Oscar award-winning family. Both Kayden and Jules know what it is like to not fit in with their family. When Jules is afraid of disappointing her family she hires Kayden to pretend to be her boyfriend for the holidays. What ensues is a completely hilarious novella that had me laughing out loud and grinning from ear to ear.Kayden had me snorting with laughter in beginning of the novella. Then he had me swooning when he was smooth talking Jules. Poor Jules was very insecure, and Kayden won me over when he gave her the confidence she needed to get through the holiday with her family. The family chaos and backstory made me feel like I was watching it in the movie theatre it was so entertaining. Yet, at the heart of the novella was a story about a guy and and girl who just wanted love and acceptance from their family and from each other. In the end this was a highly entertaining novel that was not only humorous, but sweet and meaningful as well. 5 totally awesome stars for this novella!
