About book One Amazing Thing (2010)

My actual rating: 3.25. A tale within a tale format is an interesting way to tell this tale! As nine people are trapped after an earthquake, they pass time and keep calm by each telling a story about "one amazing thing" from their lives. This gives us insight into each character and the circumstances which brought each to where they are today. A nice collection of stories -- interesting and compelling. An enjoyable read. This book had a lot of promise and was mostly enjoyable to listen to right up until the end which was kind of a non-ending. Did the author choose this format because novels sell better than collections of short stories? I'd argue that this was more a collection of short stories than a novel, especially in light of the ambiguous ending. Am I supposed to make an assumption of the ending based on 2 sentences? or make my own ending up? I was not expecting such a disappointing ending, especially when I was enjoying the stories I thought would culminate into something. It really took away from all the great things the book had going for it.
