I typically love all the brash, alpha craziness in a Mercy Celeste but I never connected here. I still find Levi entertaining and parts of this were fun and entertaining but the whole thing just felt a bit forced. Some others complained in their reviews about the shredding of one of the previous major relationships… and I agree but mostly because again, it seemed like the author was looking for stuff to happen, it didn’t feel like an organic extension of that relationship. So not bad… just “eh”. Though it leaves me feeling as though there will be another angst-filled sequel, this one grabbed me every step of the way with a tortuous plot, incredibly screwed up characters, and mano-a-mano sex that leaves little to the imagination. Wonder if the characters are based on any real NFL characters. HOWEVER, and it's a big one, Mercy admitted she rushed this thing to complete it and in so doing ignored using a copy editor. There are tons of first-grade spelling and other grammatical mistakes and somewhat botched formatting which, if the book were not so terrific, would have lowered my rating. Waiting, Mercy, for another blast from these characters (BTW, Mercy, who's on the cover? Levi and Jude, or Jude and Will?)
