About book O'Brien Family Christmas, An: A Chesapeake Shores Novel (2011)
So like me to step in the middle of a series without regard to any of the other books! I've got some catching up to do obviously! Loved this book and loved the O'Brien family. Lara Riley started dating a younger man, known for his womanizing, and it doesn't go so well for her. Due to her position in the community and her position in her father's bank, her family makes life rough for her over her decision to have this secret relationship with Matthew O'Brien. She decides to move on, leave her position with the bank and end it all with Matthew.Matthew however, never wanted their relationship to be secret and is as determined as ever to get her back. He wanted more than a fling with her, he wants a whole lifetime together. He's not the only one. His whole family wants the two of them together because Lara makes Matthew happy and for them that is all that matters. They all work together, along with her brother who has married into the family, to get Lara to join them for a Dublin Family Christmas get together. Matthew's determined as ever to openly court her and Lara's not sure she's up to the task of fighting him and his family.Nell, the family matriarch, hasn't been to Dublin since she left as a young girl. And when she left it wasn't under the happiest of circumstances. She had loved another and her family had chosen another young man for her to marry when they all left for the states together. Dillon had purchased her family business and still owns it to her surprise. He also still has a piece of her heart. Her family isn't all that thrilled with the idea of the two of them getting together and taking her away from all of them. The O'Brien family makes a trek to Dublin for Christmas. Matthew and Laila solve their differences and end up having a Dublin wedding. Her parents also arrive in time and offer their best wishes. Gram Nell meets an old friend and sparks fly. Her sons are not happy to have their mother in a relationship at her age. Everything ends well. This is a happy story and leaves a lot of opportunity to develop the next book.Enjoyable.
