4,5 starsIt's a very cute romance and after I read where Maya Banks got the inspiration for Eveline it really got into me. It's an amazing tribute to someone so special. The story is simple but represents the conflicts and the living conditions of that time and the power of a love so strong between two people that can change mentalities. I enjoyed it and recommend if you like romances. 3.5 stars for this one, the first in Banks's The Montgomerys and Armstrongs series. It was slow to start for me, but I liked that Eveline's challenges were revealed early on. Some of the writing is a bit cheezy for me, and a lot of it seems like filler just to extend the book length, but I like the plot lines and I love the love that grows between characters. Not just between the hero and heroine, but also between the hero's brothers and the heroine, and between her and her clan of origin. The last 75 pages were the best for me (That section had the fewest "nape"s and "God's teeth"s, so that probably had something to do with it. ); Banks finally got into a good rhythm and finished strongly. I'm interested to see what happens to the "bad guy's" family, and which of the Montgomery brothers is next in line for romance. The name Eveline is absolutely beautiful, and an excellent choice for the heroine opposite Graeme.
