About book Nubes De Kétchup (2013)

Oh my, no, this is reeeally bad literature. I wish people that decide to write from a teenager's POV would stop making up unrealistic relationships that set horrible relationship standards for young people and call it "love".Love is not about kissing a boy you don't like, an abusive boy, an asshole, for the sake of it (for a moment, it looked good, because she actually tells him he's an asshole...but then where did that go? It's stupid!). Love is not about not talking honestly about your feelings to the boy you really like, no matter how "cute" you think it might read that tug-of-war...honestly it really pisses me off. I cannot read a book such as this without thinking "Wow, this is really fucked up. You should have shoved this up your ass". I'm sorry it's harsh. It's how I feel. I don't understand why you would decide to make this an epistolar structured book. It doesn't make any sense and it doesn't feel natural or inspiring or anything. Thinking about this book just makes me feel more and more angry so I'm going to stop. Dot's cute. Not cute enough. This teen novel is narrated through letters from Zoe (not her real name) in Bath, UK (not her actual address) to a death row inmate in a Texas prison. Through these letters Zoe gradually unveils a secret she's been keeping: that she is responsible for the death of one of the two brothers she was romantically involved with. She also tells the inmate about her squabbling parents and her sisters Sophie and Dot. Intertwined with her secret is a secret her parents are keeping about her grandfather who has recently suffered a stroke. The story switches between past and present, which is jarring at times. And the letters feel like more of a device than a plot necessity, especially since Zoe gives the inmate a false name and address, so he can't respond to her letters. However, the mystery is intriguing, and I wasn't certain which brother dies until the story's climax.Teen romance and mystery lovers will enjoy this page-turning story.

Meh - almost gave up on page 34, but pushed through. It's a take or leave kinda book.

The romance aspect isn't as exciting as the prisoner aspect.
