This is the seventh in the Booktown Mystery Series and the first one that I have read. The mystery was ok. A man running for president of the town’s Chamber of Commerce is found dead by main character Tricia. (Apparently in other books she has found other dead bodies.) Tricia is supposed to be involved with the police chief, but the relationship seems to have its problems. (She breaks it off with him.) Since she has found the body she is a suspect, as is her sister Angelica (who also is running for president of the Chamber). I found it difficult to stay interested in the book. I don’t like Tricia character. Maybe if I had read the other books in the series and knew all the background, but she seems self-centered, superior to others, and very judgmental. If the main character is always like she is in this book, I won't find myself reading from this series. I think I only continue to read this series to find out if Tricia ever figures out her love life. I find the way she interacts with these men very immature. she never has a frank discussion but is often stoic or passive aggressive. the personality of the men seem to change from book to book. she's 40+ years old. why did she put up with bakers nonsense so long? it just aggravates me. Tricia also has a quite a feeling of superiority about her. she often looks down on Pixie and others like the magazines she found. She could stand to learn what true kindness is.the story line conclusion was a bit convoluted and dramatic. it was a mean thing to do to Chauncey.
Overall it was a great mystery i was just annoyed by small things ! Will try another in the series
