This is a hard one to review without giving something away - that fact alone is part of why I enjoyed it so much. Cole keeps you in suspense from the very start. Just when you think you know what any of the secrets are, the surprise of how wrong you were is enough to give you whiplash. Cole writes Finn's voice with skill - she steers clear of an overbearing here's-a-schizophrenic display. In his actions, in his inner voice, his struggle is both dark and personal. The sane, whole Finn always trying to fight to the surface; refusing to be drowned by the ever-present voices bombarding his mind. Calla's narration is at time a bit redundant. Nearly ever description of Dare is 'sexy'. While Calla is all of 18, a bit of variance in her vocabulary would have been nice. Regardless, Cole got to my heartstrings. The pain, the desire, the joy, the fear - of every character we grow close to - was felt. Bravo. This was a good book. Calla Price is 18 years old and she's just lost her mother from a car accident. She has a twin brother who was diagnosed with Schizoaffective Disorder which is a combination of Schizophrenia and Bi-Polarism. They have always been there for one another. Their home is a funeral home and their father is a Mortician. During growing up and high school, she was known as funeral home girl and the other students harassed her brother. She meets Dare DuBray and he's gorgeous, has a British accent, smart, and Calla is immediately drawn to him. There are some twist and turns that you won't see coming with this book. Definitely worth reading.
