Do You like book No Hay Silencio Que No Termine (2010)?
If you are expecting an externally detailed, rich recollection of Ingrid Betancourt's six and a half years of captivity in the Colombian Jungle - don't. Her story is detailed, but is centred on stages of her emotional state. There are absolutely beautiful recollections and explanations (almost metaphorical poetry) about her perseverance, personal growth, internal turmoil, thoughts and frustrations. The book is an "internal" recollection. She does not, however, elaborate on her 'dark' moments, but seems to instead only cast a light on her optimistic and positive thoughts - therefore the book does not seem very sincere. Written after the event, it seems that Ingrid has transferred her current optimistic outlook of the events to the book, not her raw, honest experience at the time.I yearned for more detailed information about her fellow prisoners and the guerrillas. Information by which I could envision them, other than by their names. During the times at which Ingrid and her fellow prisoners are having to kill time, the boredom was transferred though the pages to the reader, although I doubt this was intentional. The book was too monotonous (the most exciting part was the few pages covering the attempted escape with Lucho Perez) and too "inner journey" in my opinion.

Uffff....Primero que nada, quiero decir que no voy a analizar la política de Ingrid Betancourt, porque sé que mucha gente no está de acuerdo...Pero, hay que analizar este libro desde la perspectiva de un ser humano. Dejemos la política por un segundo.El horror que vivió esta señora, junto a sus compañeros, es agobiante y le da escalofrios a uno. Es un acontecimiento personal, una narrativa dolorosa, una historia de seis años y medio de su cautiverio. En las 700 páginas, llegamos a conocer a esta persona, sus sentimientos más profundos e intimos, llegamos a conocer su dolor por sus hijos y su familia, y más que nada, sentimos cómo vive un ser humano cuya libertad ha sido borrada completamente. Es algo que no se puede explicar, pero la señora Betancourt logró hacerlo. Supongo que escribir esta novela le resultó muy difícil y catártico a la misma vez.También nos ofrece una percepción de las FARC, siempre tratando de encontrar la humanidad dentro de la gente que fueron sus carceleros. Nos explica sus vidas y sus historias, lo que nos ayuda entender por qué decidieron hacerse guerrilleros y cometer crímenes como este. Es una historia impresionante, llena de dolor, coraje y sobre todo-esperanza.
