About book Não Abras Os Olhos (2012)

This book had me from the start, the narration was fantastic. Dave is a retired NYPD cop with a history and one bad case where I presume he was nearly killed and he moved to the country with his 2nd wife Madeline. Dave has a son whom he seems estranged from and another son who died. Dave craves a bit more excitement than watching the asparagus grow. His wife seems quite content. Dave gets sucked into just one more case because of his talents for working out puzzels. I won’t go into the storyline you can read it. He makes a lot of progress on the murders, many interesting characters twists and turns. He thinks nothing of letting his wife know his whereabouts etc., job comes first. Great suspenseful read. Wow!!!! Soooo many twists and turns in a single book! Dave Gurney is back, with a really good story! I found the first one ok, but this one... almost perfect! When you think, "i know who is who, what happened, who did it", then comes the surprise. And then you make a new plot inside your mind only to discover that you were wrong once again.Couldn't put the book down... It's fast and tense, full of crosstalk that only enhances all the tention during key-moments.But not everything is perfect. While reading this book i kept thinking "why are those two still married????". The scenes between Dave Gurney and his wife, are awfull. They are bad for my nerves! And it's always the same thing: she is sooo intuitive and even he - the ace detective that can solve the Gordian knot can't understand her!!!! They're miles away from each other when it comes to understanding one another and they keep doing the same thing: she says something, he thinks something and never answers and then she leaves. Or he forgets something important and blah blah blah!!!! For Christ's sake do yourselves and the readers a favour: Madeleine stop talking like Pythia and Dave buy a pack of post-its!But when the action is outside the house, then it's pure delight. Trying to put all the pieces together to make the whole image, trying to find the right answer for each question. Pure joy. Dark story, twisted characters... What else can a reader ask for?

Do You like book Não Abras Os Olhos (2012)?

Very good sequel to a very good book. I think I've found my favorite genre: Murder Mysteries.
