It's funny... the other day I was wondering what I wanted to read on BART the next day and I just thought "hey, how about another one of those Dave Gurney books". After I started reading this one, I went back and read my review for book 1, wherein I stated "I don't think I'm going to read any more of these unless they get significantly better". Well, I guess I'm a liar because after finishing #2 I can't say it got much better. The thing is, while it had all of the same negatives I mentioned in my first review, it also had all of the same positives...that I didn't really talk about. So...see review of #1 for negatives. The positives: I like puzzles, and so does Dave. The mysteries/crimes are interesting. I very much enjoy the psychological theories the author brings into the stories. VERY MUCH ENJOY those. (just so you know I mean it). Anyways, I'm still in the right mood, so on to #3. This is the second book written by John Verdon following retired homicide investigator Dave Gurney. This series of books shows the author has a knack for hiding the answers in plain sight; it makes for interesting mystery reading. Since I had read his first book, Think of a Number, I knew how he likes to twist things. I figured I could jump ahead in my thinking and get to the answer half way through. I was wrong. I enjoyed the book immensely and will read the 3rd book in the series shortly. I enjoy his style of writing.
Do You like book No Abras Los Ojos (2011)?
It wasn't as good as his debut, but still kept me on the edge of my seat.
