Dharsha, a young Neko, half human half feline, has been taken as a pleasure slave, but his refusal to submit has caused him to be sold on by various owners until he comes into the hands of woodsmen. His treatment at the hands of the woodsman is dire, thinking of him as nothing more than animal they abuse him daily both physically and sexually, force him to satisfy even the dog, and devise various tortures for him. Dharsha endures this, occasionally rebelling, only to regret as the woodsmen deal out their retribution. The chance visit of a trapper to the woodsmen's home brings a little relief, and Dharsha selfless actions on behalf of the trapper eventually results on the two escaping. But their escape is fraught with dangers, and the Niko will need to recover some of his natural feline senses and hunting skills if they are to survive. The first seven chapters are both erotic and harrowing as they catalogue the Niko's suffering and degradation. The story takes on a more tender tone once Dharsha is in the care of the trapper, although there is still more gruesome behavior to come. I have mixed feeling about this story, the passages describing the sadistic treatment of Dharsha I ofetn had to skim over, yet concern for him kept me reading and the latter part of the story was much more involving. Being an avid dark reads fan, I have a lot of dark reads GR friends. I can't think of one that can or would tolerate this book. I don't remember walking away from a book due to content and I don't remember walking away from this one due to content. I did pick up another book though about 3/4s of the way through and have decided against picking this one back up. Why? My hard limits are scat and water sports. I'm not a fan of humiliation either but it's more tolerable to me than scat and water sports. There is just no reason for those two things in life to me. Add to that the clam-like setting and I'm definitely out. It's just not a tolerable read for me. Yes, I know there is shock amongst my friends. Sorry, no No. 1 or No. 2s will EVER make me find them necessary, much less erotic. They are just poop and shit to me and both highly disgusting. So, the DNF is due to my hard limits and nothing to do with this author's writing.
