I genuilely don't know how to rate and review this book. Yes, this is well written and the fantasy plot is great. I really enjoyed this part. But I guess it was really too much for me. The utterly disturbing part. I'm always a goner for dominant tops, for roughness and domination. But rape, cruelty and torture is my limit I think. Not that I didn't enjoyed some hot sex scenes, it would be hypocrite of me if I say so. But it was upsetting to read most of it, and I'm just completely exhausted because of my nerves. I had stomach cramps pretty much all along. So yeah I don't know. It really makes me think of the right or wrong of some fantasies. There is for example a lot of things I find sexy, hot and all in books but so wrong and disgusting in real life. Is it only because they are fantasies and that we do not act on them that make it right? Look at me, all philosophical and all. So I guess I recommend it for those who are not disturbed by this things. You'll love it. For the others, just go buy a kitten or something and stay away from it. Wowsers. Just wow. It is a requirement, I think, when reviewing this book, to start off with the warning: this book is brutal, and not for the faint of heart. Even the love in the book carries its own bit of brutality. There is torture. Physical, sexual, mental, emotional, raw and brutal torture. But the characters, the ride. You're swept away in the torrent and too late you find there's no safety line. The intensity was profound. I found myself empty of concepts of male, female; race, creed, tender, rough, anything preconceived. It simply was. I don't know how to explain it. The book was long, but every time I put it down, all I wanted was to pick it back up again. I'll miss it now that it's over, yet at the same time I feel like I've been through an ordeal, and now need to recuperate.
