3 stars for Lora Leigh. While the Nauti Girls series is good, it's lacking compared to the Nauti Boys series. 4 stars for Jaci Burton. This was a good story. I wished it would of followed up more on the original Wild Riders. I'm assuming this was the last in the series, and it would of been nice to have the guys involved and get a real update on them, instead of just those couple of pages in the beginning, and there wasn't even mention of AJ and Pax. (Aug) It's been a long while since I read anything by Lora Leigh - while I never was a fan of the Breed books (tried one or two, just didn't thrill me) I love her August books, Nauti books, etc. This was nowhere near as Nauti as most of the other books I've read by her, which is fine. But OMG, did I find Dawg over-the-top annoying - and the other women were just as selfish. I seemed to have missed the beginning of this Nauti Sister's series, so I had no idea Dawg has long lost sisters. In trying to protect them from the dangers his life and line of work bring to everyone, he ends up treating the girls like, well, little girls. The idea that Piper had to sneak away to NYC, could not stand up for herself to her brother or her mother, and was later on told by her mom and the wives of Dawg, Rowdy, and Natches how selfish she was for taking the trip and not telling anyone what happened, not sharing w/Dawg. Ugh - this whole story frustrated me because Dawg comes across as mentally unbalanced (if life is so dangerous, quit what you do, move away, get a normal life maybe?)and no one can see how wrong he is, how right Piper is for wanting a normal, protection free life. She is being left in the dark, treated like a child - and come on, couldn't she have met w/the designer in NYC, had it been a huge success, and still have the whole gem-mix up storyline worked in? Instead she has to be shown as being rash, headstrong, and then she got screwed - and beat up - and see, Dawg was right. Blech! Not sure I have any interest in following this series, if it's all going to be "oh, silly girl, do whatever Dawg says so he can sleep at night and I'll protect you and smother you and it doesn't matter that you'll be lost and miserable because Dawg will be ok." I even got annoyed at Jed, an otherwise pretty good Hero, when he said "Piper, you were being protected for a reason" and she said "For a reason i was never allowed to understand...maybe, Jed, if something - anything - had been explained to me, then i would have been more prone to listen a little more closely." His response? "Now you're sounding like a child." Really?! Ugh and blech!Have only read one other Jaci Burton motorcycle gang books, and that too was a novella. I found it odd that in this anthology both heros a) were named Jed and b) were creepy in wiring and watching the heroine w/o her knowledge. This story was definitely better than the LL one - even if it is a part of a series, it could be read as a stand alone and the alph-male BS didn't get so thick you couldn't even stand up! Good, nothing special, nothing that makes me want to run back and read this series from the first.
