About book Muotimatkaaja Titanicin Kannella (2011)

I'm a really big fan of vintage, I'm not going to kid you. So when I picked up this book I thought it was going to be a perfect fit. I read the book when it first came out, two or three years ago. So (*does math in head*) 7th or 8th grade. That should be a good thing since I was around the same age as the main character but it just didn't work out let me start with the good things first:tThe art was absolutely amazing, I still go back and look at it from time to time because it's that good. The idea was pretty original, and the writing had no obvious grammatical which is always a plus. Now here are some of the things I didn't like about it:The main character was a bit lacking in her personality. Even though she was supposed to be twelve, she seemed to be more along the lines of ten. With no thoughts of anything except herself and how terrible it was that her closet didn't have vintage clothes. Some of the interactions that the characters had seemed forced. Like they were trying to shove a square peg in a round hole. The pictures were off from the description. The main character is supposed to have brown hair and yet all of the pictures show her with black, sorry, a bit of a pet peeve of mine.Everything seemed to work out the way it needed to the way you expected it. The main character wants to be hit on by a tall, handsome man from the 40's, it happens. She want to know about her mother's "mysterious" (not really) past. It happens, though she does have to wait a few days, so we should probably feel terrible for her.I really wanted to love this book, I did. But there were a few things that drove me insane, tat later affected my entire idea of the book.

this was a really cute story about a girl who loves old fashion dresses and fabrics. She goes to a vintage fashion show and finds the perfect dress to wear to the school formal. When she tries it on for fit, she is transported back in time to be onboard a huge luxury ship where she gets to meet her all time favorite designer. She loves being able to meet her and talk to her about ideas and designs and fabrics. She finally figures out that she is currently on board the famous ill-fated Titanic with all the historical figures she knows from history class... Its a great story and fun and a swift easy read! Even tho its a tween book, i really enjoyed it and will be getting more of this series!
