About book Mother. Wife. Sister. Human. Warrior. Falcon. Yardstick. Turban. Cabbage. (2013)
Read his blog on depression, fell in love. Immediately purchased this and I have to say so far it have been a disappointment. It didn't resonate with me. I thought it was going to be an extension of the blog post and it's just been an onslaught of one-liners through the whole thing. I kept reading thinking, 'alright, enough already, let's get serious.' Never happened, much to my dismay. Now I love me some comedy, but when I'm just getting hit with joke after joke, it tends to be too much. I am at a standstill. Put it down and may pick it up again eventually. I loved the crap out of every minute I spent reading this book. I heard Rob speak with Jian on Q and was so taken with his spot-on self-effacing sense of humour that I had to actually go and legitimately buy this book on my Kindle. Just like I do with every book, of course. A very worthwhile investment; I love reading, but I really REALLY loved reading this book, and probably kept my fiance up el-oh-elling every 2 minutes, even more frequently reading the tweets at the beginning of each chapter. Which are all named in French for no reason at all, which was awesome. The best thing about this book was its frankness and honesty. From the sh*ttiness of dealing with addiction, to things that make you cry, to the need to squish cats against your face sometimes, Rob is just so goddamn hilariously up-front and human about everything, it just makes you just want to give him a big hug.
