The first image that comes to my mind when thinking about this book is someone sitting by a cozy fireplace, wrapped in a blanket or snuggy. It's like a comfort read of sorts. This book is about a community of people from a very small town where most of the residents live by a lake-- Butternut Lake. I find it interesting living somewhere where everyone knows everyone, and eat and shop at the same places (usually a place). Not sure if it's for me, but from the characters ' perspectives, I can understand the security that comes with that type of living. This is the first book in a series, and I must say that the character development was so good that I am very invested, and I would like to find the other books so that I can learn more about the lives of the folks in the town. The author has me hooked, and I am now invested in these people. The biggest story in this particular book is a budding romance. I must say that as in all romance there has to be a little kink that breaks them up before reuniting them, but in this romance the break up issue seemed far too petty to be able to put a divide between them since the love was so intense. If you are looking for a crazy story line and intense action...this will not give you that. There is some drama but realistic drama. Remember this is a small town. I do see closeminded views in many of the characters, but I don't think this is unusual for the setting where this takes place. While a 4/5 stars may actually be a rather generous rating, I felt that this book was a just above a 3 and satisfying enough to give it a 4. While it is not a very complex novel, it gains rapport by acknowledging the characters' pasts as they affect the present, and tells a story that is what most people want out of a summer love story, and over all leaves a general impression of happiness that I find worthy.
