Vikas Swarup is easily one of the most underrated authors in my opinion, he wrote the path-breaking Q and A, and now i am done with his second novel 6 SUSPECTS. Loosely inspired from many high profile cases, 6 suspects is one those rare thrillers which actually succeeds in engaging your attention throughout the whole with its characters, sub-plots. The characters are so genuine, that some times you feel that you are reading a non-fictional book. The interlocking of each characters with a common link is very cleverly shown, and fills you with amazement. Generally thriller novel over 500 pages tends to drag the story in slow motion, but in 6 SUSPECTS, the action is so fast that you would want to finish the novel at a straight go. The 6 suspects i.e a local mobile thief, a shining Bollywood actress, a retired politician, Home minister of a state, a cracked American and a tribal from the island of Andaman, they all are arrested in suspect of killing Vciky Rai, the son of Home minister and a self made Industrialist, who keeps law under his pocket. Who is the actual murderer?, read it and find it. PROS: brilliant story line, great characterization, wonderful sub-plots, easy language and visually strong explanation of the surrounding makes an easy for the reader.CONS: The detailed explanation of the characters might seem boring at few instance, and another factor is the length, shorter by few chapters, and more effective editing might have crafted into a more effective novel. To conclude my views, its a very interesting novel, read it for the sake of its captivating plot, witty lines, interesting characters Interesting to see other readers who give this book anything from one star to five, as I did. I thought the "idea" was fascinating - as we know who has been killed we follow five people, any of whom might have been the killer - and each with a good reason. While following them we learn about each character, his/her life, family, expectations - and a lot about India and its cities, citizens at this time. My interest never flagged and I'll look for other books by Swarup.
Do You like book Meurtre Dans Un Jardin Indien (2008)?
This book was put together in a clever way, but got a little muddled with the characters.
