About book Magic To The Bone (2008)

I had a problem with the pacing of this book. Actually the next book (I began reading it already), also had pacing issue. I'm not quite sure if I like it or not. I'm undecided at the moment but leaning on probably stopping soon. I also found the whole mystery at every corner really annoying. Everyone, everywhere seemed to have a secret going on and it was a bit too much. The sex part was a bit lackluster also. There was a lot of build up but then it was over? And I'm like "HUH? What? That's it? But it didn't even start?"I was intrigued mostly by the magic system. But even that was not very well explained. The rules aren't really clear. It was weird. I was surprised that I liked this book as much as I did. There were some gaps in the storyline referencing prior situations that made it hard to follow. There were also some scenes that were hard to follow as to what was happening and who was where. It was tied up in a pretty bow by the end for the most part. I'm not sure if I will read the rest of this series but I am intrigued. More like 3.5 stars - if that was an option.
