This book is NOT a traditional love story. Mainly, it's the story of a close-knit group of women in a Carolina neighborhood whose history of oove, past and present, seems to be in mid air. One woman begins an affair while her marriage is on the decline. Another is married to an older man who is controlling. One woman is a pastor's wife. One woman is divorced,trying to make a new life for herself. While there are romantic moments, this book is more about people than love. I could identify with the emotional flight of all of these women. It's a far better read than the title might suggest. Elyse is a pottery artist who thinks her is marriage dead. She meets Gerry (also married) on an airplane trip. They have a wonderful conversation on the flight. He hands her his business card. Only when Elyse is totally fed up with her husband does she give Gerry a call.Does she really want to give up her comfortable life in suburbia in an affluent Southern Neighborhood? She shares all of her secrets with her friend Kelly and some of her friends in her book club.This book was okay. It was a little raunchy for my taste. I wasn’t expecting it to be so “Real Housewives.” I like the book club meetings. Anytime there is a discussion of what someone is reading I’m always interested.
