About book Logicomix: An Epic Search For Truth (2008)
This was one of the first graphic novels I read in a long time. I can recommend it to anyone with an interest in brilliant minds searching for meaning. The story is populated with interesting characters, even if you don't care about their ideas. The book manages to make complex ideas accessible, without making the descriptions too childish. It won/was nominated many awards (also outside the graphic novel realm) for good reason! In my opinion, one of the best ways to jump into a new scientific field is to read a book about it. I don’t mean an Intro to Neuroscience textbook, or a dusty tome describing the intracacies of Non-Euclidean Geometry, but instead, something a little more accessable and a lot more fun.A few weeks ago I did just that, and picked up "Logicomix", a graphic novel that follows the life of philosopher/mathematician Bertrand Russell, and his quest to discover the foundations of all mathematics. The story pre-supposes almost zero background knowledge, and is consequently a great novel for beginner armchair logicians to whet their inquiring minds. For the veteran, it offers the story of logic through a unique, personal lense.
