About book Locke & Key Vol. 6: Alpha & Omega (2014)
A well drawn, well written graphic novel spanning about 6 volumes, with rich character development right down to the toddler in the family. Locke & Key explores the character flaws, strengths of its cast against the backstory of a magical key (or keys) that can open a portal to an otherworld filled with evil. It really is an engaging story and the magic system of the world of Lovecraft pulls you in, with its uniqueness (magic keys with specific attributes). Frankly, i wished the story went on and on... I've been pacing myself with this series since it first came out, knowing from the first issue that I'd be pretty unhappy when it came to its end. And I was so right. The last volume is incredible as the others and so very worth the wait. I've decided that this series and especially the last ten or so pages of the series could be used as a test to see if you're dealing with a sociopath. If that person is not feeling something (I was full on crying the whole last chapter abouts) you may want to be wary. It wraps up and doesn't lose its style, its pain, its honesty trying to get to the end of the story. And wow those last pages. Things of beauty. The art has changed a little (Rodriguez definitely plays with different styles throughout, successful in each one) but it's almost as if it shows how the characters have matured. It worked with where the story was going. The details have always been an impressive part of L&K. I recommend this series to near everyone I know. If you have imagination and feelings, I'd say it's for you.
