If you want to know more about the disparity between Europe and America, this is just the book you ever need. The switches are quite dramatic, like an exchange program you experienced in University at a cheap deal. It's cool because you don't need to spend too heftily on air freight and at the same time, experience the world from another perspective. The sadness, disappointment and laughter are expressed by the 2 teens across the countries. Undoubtedly an interesting pick. I read this book in one sitting. I would recommend it if you are a fan of dishy made-for-tv movies, because this book definitely has that same tone.I found some aspects to be very typical, such as the party-girl Californian Tasha and the straight-laced English girl Emily. I appreciated the talk about feminist groups and actions, but found many of the Oxford feminist club characters to be rather one-dimensional. The same can be said for the UCSB party girls. However, there were a few different takes on things that I really enjoyed. I loved the idea of them having to take each other's classes and therefore truly experiencing a semester as another person; it also meant that each girl was meeting the other's friends and classmates, and it gives the girls something to bond over when they begin communicating with one another. I also really liked how the situation with Natasha's love interest panned out - not a typical happy ending at all but you are very happy for the protagonist, the choices she has made, and what she has learned. That was a nice surprise from an overall light and fun book.
