This book gave me a lot of hope; it made me feel that I could continue my life, no matter what obstacles get in my life. This book was about a young boy named Tyler who gets cancer and starts to write letters to God. His mom finds out about the letters, and soon, the whole community does too. His friends and neighbors help to comfort him, but he only finds comfort in writing to God. At the same time, his mom is dealing with relationship problems, his brother is dealing with his teenager problems, and the mailman is also going through a rough time with his son. They all get to know Tyler more throughout the pain that he is going through. I recommend this book to the people who want hope and need hope. Although it speaks about God a lot, it is a very encouraging and comforting book to read. Ugh. What a poorly written story. The whole book read like some wretched after school special. While the subject matter was heart-warming, the story was so poorly written that I lost interest in finishing the book multiple times. I struggled through to the end. Yuck. Glad to be finished with it. ------------------------Haven't seen the movie yet, but I had one of my Catholic kids ask me if I had the book in my library ('cause his mom recommended that he read the book). At the time, I didn't, but I've recently added it, so I figured I should read through the book to find out more.
