This is a beautifully written, lyrical book, more like poetry than prose it is translated from Japanese. A couple in their thirties in the suburbs of Tokyo are befriended by a neighbour's cat. She entwines herself into their lives. This is a quiet, gentle book with exquisite descriptions of nature. It captures perfectly the rhythms of life, the little sorrows and joys. A perfect novel: like a China cup discovered in a junk store. :::English Follow Arabic:::انتهيت اليوم من قراءة رواية يابانية ل"تاكشى هيرادى" وهو شاعر وروائى يابانى مشهور وحائز على عدة جوائز أدبية. هذة أول رواية يابانية لى ولكن يبدو ان الادب اليابانى شدنى من اول رواية. على عكس ما تعود قارئ الروايات والتى جلها يدور حول شخصيات أو احداث واقعية أو خيالية ولكن هذة الرواية والتى مركزها هى قطة اسمها, “شيبى" أى الصغيرة باللغة اليابانية لها مكان خاص فى الأدب وخصوصا نحن القارئين العرب والتى تشدنا او لم نرى الا روايات تركز على شخصيات او احداث تاريخية. او خيالية أو نضالية. المؤلف وزوجتة يعيشان فى بيت صغير مستاجر من زوجين كبيرين فى السن ويشمل البيت الصغير حديقة لا تتسع الا لشخصين. يشترط العجوزين على الزوجين عدم امتلاك القطط او الكلاب ولكن الزوجين أبلغاها انهم لا يحبان ذلك بتاتاً حتى ان زوجة المؤلف قالت فى لحظة ما" القطط والكلاب ليسوا لنا" ولكن فى يوم من الأيام جاءت القطة الصغيرة فى زيارة مفاجاءة للزوجين بدون أى اذن مسبق. يوماً بعد يوم أصبحت القطة فرد من العائلة تأكل معهم وتلعب حولهم وتسامرهم بشكل يومى. لو غابت القطة تسأل عنها الزوجة او الزوج وعلى مدار الرواية تدور الأحداث حول تغير سلوك القطة بتغير قربها من الزوجين وتحسن علاقتها معهم.الرواية رائعة جدا ويمزج فيها الكاتب بين عدة حقول علمية ويعرج على العديد من القصص التاريخية من مايكيافيلى ودافنشى والاقتصاد وسوق العقارات اليابانى والحياة فى طوكيو والجغرافيا. يرسم لنا الكاتب شئ لم نتعود علية من قبل من خلال فسيفساء قصصية فى اخراج روائى فريد. يعطى الكاتب مثالأ فى الثلث الأخير من الرواية كم أن الفراق صعب وان خسارة فرد او عضو من الأسرة حتى لو كان حيوان مؤلم وصعب نفسيا ومعنويا, حتى وصل الحال بعد مقتل القطة فى حادث أمام البيت الى أن ياتى ويسافر الزوجين مسافة لاقامة طقوس للقطة برش بضعاً من سمك السردين ومن ثم الانحناء ولمس الأسفلت تعبيرا عن حبهم للقطة الغريبة.هذا العمل هو فريد من نوعة لايجاد التفاعل ما بين الطبيعة والانسان والحيوان وكذلك بين العلوم الانسانية والطبيعية الاخرى. أنصح بقراءة هذة الرواية لأنها ستغير فينا شئ ما وستؤدى الى اثارة العقل أو فكرة ما.(أعتذر عن الأخطاء اللغوية وعدم الترقيم بما يلزم بسبب البرنامج الذى استخدمة)I just finished reading the novel “The guest cat” by Takashi Hiraide. He is a Japanese poet and this is one of his first novels(He has written two so far). It is my first Japanese novel too. For the first time, I read a novel where an animal, precisely, a cat is the center of the events and everything around the novel is driven by the life of “Chibi”, the cat. The author and his wife lived in a small guesthouse owned by an old couple who lived beside them. They were not allowed to have pets at all. Hiraide and his wife were focusing on their careers and they never liked cats or animals. He owned a dog when he was kid, but he never had a cat or a dog afterwards. As his wife said to him at the beginning, “They do not belong to us”. One day a cat invited itself to come to the house and day after day, the cat became one of them. It came everyday, enjoyed the fish and food brought by the family and played with them. His wife, after her time wit Chibi, the name the wife herself gave it to the cat, told her husband, “They belong to us”. This type of novels that change us and have a simple impact when we go out the next day and see a cat or an animal. Along the novel, the author narrate about the many aspects of Tokyo's life and economy. The dilemma of real estate in Tokyo and nature surrounded it. He writes about the life of copyediting professional(as he and his wife work in editing and writing business), the economy, philosophy, geography, baseball and many other aspects. Admirably, Chibi was just a symbol in the novel that drive the discursive and wise of the author to write about these aspects. The author shows how much is is painful to lose someone that used to be with everyday. When Chibi was hit by a car, and died, he and his wife came every year to commemorate Chibi's friendship by throwing some sardine and touching the asphalt of the street where they found her dead. Hairdie's work is exceptional and a treasure for the everyone interested in finding the interaction between the nature, philosophy, politics, economy, jobs and the quality of life. He sums all, perfectly, in one novel.Whether you are a cat lover of dog lover, this novel is a brain food for life. It will definitely trigger something in your mind, as it did with me.
