Amy is stuck in a rut, she has a job she hates, a boyfriend she just dumped, and she can never get a hold of her best friend Micheal who has moved to the North West. She is obsessed with Mr. Dangerous and his adventures (her favorite tv show.) Amy makes feeble attempts to go out and get a life but the truth is she is holding out for Micheal. She is lucky enough to find out he has been waiting for her too. It's nice to see Amy break out of her shell and try to get her life back to where she wants it. In the beginning she lets everything and anything get in her way, it takes a while for her to realize that she needs to be herself.I really liked the art style, it was deceptively simple and I liked how Mr. Dangerous was a kind of a metaphor for her. Look at me..all reading graphic novels and stuff!Okay I liked the tone of this one, I liked the way that Hornschemeier gets across the gloomy, depressed, slacker life of the main character Amy. To be honest I had to double check at the end that the author was in fact, not female. He hit so dead on some of the self defeating traps in which women often find themselves.Amy is a 20-something, slightly depressed, kind of aimless girl who lives alone with her cat, has a friend/love interest who moved away, recently broke up with her boyfriend, has a dead end job, is obssessed with a tv show and has a mother who is equally mopey. Not a ringing endorsement for an enjoyable read, I know..but something about the tone keeps you reading even while at the same time you are chastising Amy in your head to just get on with her life already.I think I'll try another graphic novel now....
