Life in a small town is never dull. Justice Garrett is back in Fool's Gold and little Patience McGraw is no all grown up.Patience's first crush was Justice. Her teenage crush had disappeared before she could tell him what she felt, but now he's back and she is not sure she can trust him enough to tell him she still feels the same.Justice knew it would not be easy coming back to town, but he needed to see Patience again. Her mother and daughter only added to the attraction for him, but he wasn't the kind of man a woman could rely on. Was he?Very sweet. Finally figured out what it is about this series that draws me in!The majority of the Fool's Gold series is about second chances. In general most of the books are about a couple who knew each other at an earlier time in their lives. They are given a second chance at love and life. That is what draws me in so deeply! I remember and enjoy those books a little bit more than the others. This is the first book in another cycle of 3 set in Fool's Gold. This series seems like it is going to focus on men and women who were in the military and are transitioning back to normal life. They are wounded and scared people who are trying to fit in and be "normal".This book is about Justice and Patience. They have both been minor characters in previous books. They knew each other as teens in high school and now meet again as adults. Justice has issues and scars from his past. Patience has a horrible track record with men and issues of her own to overcome. This is a great addition to the Fool's Gold series and I really enjoyed it. I am really looking forward to the other books centered around this new group of characters. Well worth the read!

Patience McGraw never forgot her best friend, Justice Garrett. One day he was in her high school and then he disappeared. Justice appears in Fools Gold to begin a bodyguard school because he never forgot the town or Patience. Now a mother to 10 year old Lillie, she moves slowly in her attraction to Justice. Of course, Lillie helps her cause by stealing Justice's heart too. Another great Fools Gold book by the incomparable Susan Mallery.
