About book La Artesana Del Vidrio (2014)

I got this book as a free book from Amazon Prime and I really enjoyed the story. I didn't know what to expect and initially I did not even know that it was a translated foreign novel. While I cannot evaluate Durst-Benning's writing style, the translator did a fabulous job and I really felt completely immersed in the world of the Steinmann sisters. The Glassblower takes place in a small town in Germany called Lauscha and centers on three young girls who must make their own way in life after their father dies. The characters were interesting and well-developed. The history of glass-blowing and the description of German culture was fascinating. There is a sequel that is being translated and coming out in the spring and I'm looking forward to reading it. A sweet story about love, loss and happiness. The story takes place in Lauscha, a village that is known for glass-blowing of Christmas ornaments (which is true). Three sisters who loose their father in a man's world have to find their own way to survive. They experience hard times, rough treatments but manage to find their inner strength and individual talents. I thought the book was well written and entertaining all the way through. I enjoyed it very much and would recommend it as a light, pleasant read. So glad I came across it.
