About book Kırık Camlar Üzerinde Dans (2013)

I loved this book! Dancing on Broken Glass is a beautifully written story of love and joy, grief and pain. Love and faith were themes that moved throughout the book. I fell in love with the characters and especially loved Mickey, a young man with bipolar disorder. This is a love story in the truest and purest form. I have known couples who deal with this disorder and it is such a difficult challenge. Two of the couples I know, have struggled, divorced, and then remarried because of their love for each other. I loved in this book that Lucy and Mickey entered into the marriage with their eyes open to some of the challenges they would face, and the commitment they made to each other as to how they would deal with things as they came up.I loved the story of their baby coming into this world at great sacrifice because of Lucy's intense love for her. Accolades to the author for telling this story in such a clean and beautiful way. I wanted to keep reading this book and ignore everything and everyone else, it was that compelling. I love novels that deal with relationships in the real world. And this one did it in spades. The writing was interesting, but not overstated. The conflicts were realistically portrayed. The characters well drawn. I came close to tears, and had I not been in a public place, probably would have succumbed.Hancock did a wonderful job in dealing with the complexities of mental illness and made the character so sympathetic, yet strong, that I will probably look at people who suffer from bipolar-ism much differently. At the same time, her perspective on life and death also carried an uplifting theme throughout the book. It was spiritual in a way that would not be offense to anyone, regardless of their beliefs.Hancock painted such an idyllic little town, that I wanted to pack up my own house and move there. It was the perfect backdrop for a marriage that was anything but idyllic.Would highly recommend this to anyone who likes to read about relationships, the good, the bad, the troubled, the happy, and the tragic. But be warned...keep a box of hankies close!

Do You like book Kırık Camlar Üzerinde Dans (2013)?

It was a nice, light read. I know a lot of people raved about this book but it didn't suck me in as much as I had hoped. Sometimes, throughout the book, I got kind of bored. I did love the message though - sticking through your loved one through thick & thin, no matter what. I did cry through the last several chapters of the book so I'm not that heartless :) it was a touching story; I guess the plot didn't move as fast as I had wanted it to. The characters, nonetheless, were wonderful. You felt that you were apart of the family. The sisters had an unbreakable relationship that makes you appreciate your siblings more because they're who you have left after your parents pass. Anyway, I'm glad I read this but not one of my top favs!

Been a while since I actually read it ... but the concept and the title are beautiful thoughts. If only we all could find ways to dance on broken Glass. It was a close up vision of someone with Bipolar and how far someone can go into mania. It is equally or even more about his wife who's unconditional, unselfish, and wise love transcends her husbands difficulty staying stable, reliable, etc. In some ways his wife was almost too good for me - I think she should have had a few more 'fall apart' moments yet still find a way to rise above them. But I'd rather have a truly remarkable heroine than have a dysfunctional one. It's an eye opening book with redemptive moments all throughout.

Great book. Used almost a whole box of tissues.... Great explanation of bipolar disorder.
