About book Knightly Academy (2010)

My mother-in-law suggested to read this and since it was a short read I decided to read it. It wasn't a bad book, but after less than 50 pages all I could think was "The book is Harry Potter without the magic." The main character is an orphan, he has two friends that he makes on the train on the way to school. He has a teacher who hates him and some teachers who like him, the headmaster likes him, and he has boys in his class who hate him. All in all I would really give it 2.5 stars. It wasn't a bad book but it wasn't very original either. Working at my local library for years, I stumbled across this book while shelving in the children's section, and wrote it down for the future. As time went on, the book caught my eye again and again, to a point that I felt sure that every time I passed its shelf it was throwing stones at me and tantalizingly whispering, "PSSSSSSST!!" Finally, I gave in and picked it up, and about time, too!I was always a sort of underdog as a child, being made fun of and treated as a loner, and so I've always loved a good underdog story. This was an incredible tale of Henry, a lowly servant, who gets the chance of a lifetime to attend Knightley Academy, where he would study to become a knight! But the other students, all coming from prestigious backgrounds and royal lineages, are clearly not keen on his attendance. Henry soon finds himself ostracized along with two other boys who seem to not fit Knightley Student standards. The three of them band together to fight their way to success in school. It is a great rising-above story that I would recommend to any boy or girl who may be feeling worthless and downtrodden.
