The reader mispronounces livery and it's driving me crazy (I did look up the pronunciation). You don't realize how often a word is used until its misuse jars you out of the story.Can't finish,sigh. Guess I'm too jaded and have read too many YA books like this. This book contains all the ya tropes: poor, but smart kid goes to school with rich privileged kids, teacher who hates him, bullies, one nice teacher/mentor, one also-outcast kid who becomes his good friend.So, not a bad book, but not particularly involving or ringing my bells. On to something that I hope will interest me more. This book isn't what I usually read in that there really was no element of fantasy or science fiction but I did enjoy it. I loved the sense of adventure and mystery that Knightley Academy provided for me, it sort of reminded of The Westing Game in the sense of a middle grade mystery. I also really enjoyed the fact that the protagonist, Henry, was a servant who got the chance to become something more. I think the author did a really good job moving the story along at a good pace and keeping it interesting, I was involved until the very last page. I am glad I branched out a little for this book and I will be reading the next one.
