Another amazing read by R.J. LewisThis is the second book I've read by R.J. Lewis, and like Loving Lawson, I was intrigued by her atypical hero/ heroine. I know some reviewers complained about Claire, but I think her being a tad unlikable actually makes the story that much better because she was flawed in the reader's mind. The storyline seemed typical in many ways, but then suddenly it wasn't. It was completely engaging and difficult to put down- especially after the 2/3 mark. In both novels I've read by Lewis, she always surprises me at least a couple times with significant elements I didn't see coming and I love it! I really admire that while she does use atypical characters, the romance, plot, and characters are so different book to book. It makes me even more excited to read other titles by her, because I know I'll like it, but I'll also be surprised. If you get tired of the gorgeous heroines that don't know they are pretty, and like a little grit to your books, look no further. Man, this author had me going.First I thought he was too good to be true and with the prolgue your waiting for him to turn into an evil man, then the cops paint him in a such a bad light your left wondering are they right? But he's so sweet and caring towards her you think is he just putting on a front? Is he really this kind? Then she sends him away to be caught by the police thinking she's doing the right thing. Then all hell breaks loose when Melinda walks in scar free and your heart just breaks her and Ben.You tell in his voice how betrayed he felt and you couldn't help but be on his side.I'm so pleased he read her letter and thought about things from her perspective and forgave her though, I thought they were great together. Was a delightful ending :)
