Mostly brilliantOnce I'd got past the OMG moment in the previous book 'Borden' I just couldn't read fast enough and I was so glad I could move straight on to this book without waiting. This started so well and was a fabulous read, better even than the previous one as Marcus is faced with his worst nightmare.I loved Marcus as a character in fact this book is full of interesting characters and I can't wait to read Hawkes book. Strong characters are such a major thing for me and can make or break a book but this was so much more, the story held me enthralled in fact my only worry was Emma I read so many books where the female suddenly loses all sense and makes decisions no one with a functioning brain would ever make and I was worried this book would take that route. I felt better when early on when Emma tells us:'I was doing as I was told because I didn’t want to be those dumb girls that defied orders and went out on their own, pretending there wasn’t a real danger in doing so. I watched enough horror movies to know they always died, and they died in the most awful way too.'Shame she didn't remember this later on and this is the reason for the 4* instead of 5.(view spoiler)[Emma's TSTL moment partially spoilt this book for me, when Blythe approaches Emma for money she gives it of course but then....“Why is it stupid that I gave her money?” "She’s not going to use that money on what she said she would. That girl was filled with lies. You could see it from a mile away. She took advantage of you, knowing very well how close the two of you are.”..........He sighed. “Because I know these things. A silent observer, very rarely wrong. It’s a survival instinct. Don’t doubt me.” I didn’t. And I hated that I didn’t. Graeme didn’t lie. I trusted him with my life, and he was telling me all this because he cared enough to let me know I was being taken advantage of. So Emma knows Blythe is lying to her and we know this is going to be her downfall but Emma's better than that, she's not stupid and she's prepared or is she?So when Blythe phones desperate for help...."There’s no one to help? None of the girls there or the boss –” “Nobody gives a shit about me here! ......""Are you able to call a taxi?” "I don’t have any money, Emma. Besides, if there’s a taxi out front, what’s stopping them from grabbing me? They’re seedy and scary, and I know they’ll hurt me.” She took a few breaths. “Can you come get me?” I sighed. “Send me the address.” "I’ll text you it right now. I don’t know it off by heart, I’ll have to ask someone.” "You don’t know the address of the place you’re working at?” "Just give me a second.” I heard her put the phone down and ask someone nearby, her voice muffled. When she got back to me, she sniffed and said, “Yeah, I got it now. Do you have a pen?” I raced to the bedroom and grabbed a notepad and pen off the nightstand. “Yeah, give it to me.” She told me the address and I hastily wrote it down. “Okay, Blythe, hang tight. I’ll be there, alright? Just don’t go anywhere and I’ll call you when I’m there.”I know Blythe is pouring on the pressure and Emma is panicked but seriously when she knows how dangerous things are at the moment and she knows Borden is not answering his phone and most of his men are with him and even though Blythe is supposedly alone she turns and calmly asks someone the address at what time would it ever be a good idea for Emma to go herself. I mean come on worse case she sends one of the men outside with something to prove he's come from her and this is what spoilt it, up until then it was fabulous and after this it was fabulous so why go the TSTL way I don't understand. I have another Broody Alpha Hero to add to my collection. His name is Marcus Borden. Dirty talking, possessive and a beast in bed what more could a girl like me ask for in a book? A great plot that's what! Prior to reading the first book in this series I wasn't really expecting to be blown away. I mean I wanted the usual order of the day. Something to tide me over while I tried to figure out this funk I've been in. Well low and behold, I found an intriguing plot and from then onward I was utterly smitten with story. The times when I find a strong female character tolerable let alone love her, are rare and far in between. But Emma's character was so easily lovable I just couldn't help myself, she's feisty, hard headed and won't give up without a fight. Scratch that she doesn't give up period, and let me tell you I was gnashing my teeth at times because she's one frustrating character.Back to the story, Borden 2 picks up right when the first book left us, and might I mention that the first book had a huge cliffy. Borden, is hellbent on protecting Emma from his enemies and at first it all looks quite breezy. But when he receives a shocking text from an enemy from his past, Borden realises that the Emma is in grave danger. While this book is definitely not short, it read like a breeze. With enough mystery, suspense and sexy times to keep me well entertained. Borden's dealings are more along the lines of the Mafia-ish but we manged to get some interesting perspective from an MC because of Hawke and Hector (please give these brothers their own books. Thanks) Some graphic torture scenes brought some dark elements to the story.I love an Alpha male who turns to mush for the woman he loves. I just do... While maintaining his tough as nails more like Formica persona. This book had some nail-biting moments aaand some heartwarming moments, it also had a lot of excitement (never a dull moment.) I'll definitely be checking out this author's other work.
Do You like book Borden 2 (2015)?
I want to give this more than five stars, even more intense than the first book we see Borden's past catch up with him and Emma, it's pretty brutal. There are some really good side characters in this series, Grahame the fearless bodyguard, Hawke Borden's right hand man and brother of Hector the president of the local MC. I really understood why author RJ Lewis started with introducing us to Kate and what happened to her, it made Borden's struggle that much more real and suspenseful in this book to keep Emma safe.Borden is the most intriguing, no nonsense badass alpha and I really loved his character. For those of you that love feisty tough heroines Emma is that and more.I just couldn't put both books down and I would love to read more about Hawke and his brother Hector. I'm adding this to my favourite shelf, it certainly belongs there.

4.5 "Badass and Alleycat" STARSSPOILERS AHEADNow that's what i am talking about. Finally some action and i loved Badass Marcus Borden more in this book. After the threat to Emma's life at the end of the previous book, Borden is in full on alpha mode. The events unfold as Borden tries to protect Emma from a faceless enemy hell bent to destroy him and prevent history from repeating itself.Marcus has finally acknowledged that he is in love with Emma and he knows this time if something happens to her, he will completely self destruct. Thus enters the bikers who are to ensure Emma's protection at all costs. The Warlords MC is a new element in this story. More questions about Hawke is answered which will make an hell of a story-line if Ms. Lewis wants to pick up. I for one would love to read more about Hawke and Hector. The despicable monster who killed Kate and is now after Emma is finally out of shadows and Hawke and Borden;s fight to bring him down was just great. I loved the way the plot progresses. There was nothing more and nothing less that needed to be added to make it more perfect.Emma and Borden's relationship also takes a turn for the better. Both proclaim their love for each other and their relationship strengthens more after Emma is brought into the fold and finally exposed to the true nature of Borden's business. The violence at the end regarding both Emma and Borden was written nicely. Extra gritty just as i like. The final fight that Borden fights to kill his enemies establishes him as the biggest badass in town. He was a dangerous man before but now he is unrivaled, with a fierce reputation and a scar to go along with it.The epilogue was completely sweet and perfect. Borden's attachment and love for his new born son was too cute and adorable. Marcus Borden is fierce and scary and a dangerous criminal but behind that facade he is a man with a heart full of love for his family. The conclusion of Borden's story was perfect. If you are in the mood for a badass criminal with sizzling romance on the side, the give this series a try and you will not be disappointed.

Wow! What an extremely satisfying ending to this series. This second story was every bit as good as the first, which is rare these days. Borden was hot as hell, and the sex was FANTASTIC! Borden was controlling and dominating with Emma when they were together. Sexy as fuck. But Borden could also be sweet and loving with Emma too. I was almost torn which Borden I loved more. :)The back story of who was behind the phone calls and threats, and later the (view spoiler)[kidnappings and torture (hide spoiler)]
