About book Justiça Generosa: A Graça De Deus E A Justiça Social (2013)
This was the part that got me: 'When some Christians say "Caring for physical needs will detract from evangelism"they must be thinking only of doing evangelism among people who are comfortable and well-off.' Keller is careful to differentiate between social gospel and true Christianity, but states that the proof of real Christianity is service to the poor. This is the most provocative Christian book I've read in a long time. I'd encourage everyone to read it, and as you do, pray that it will help me change how I live my life. Tim Keller is clearly a gifted and important author for today's Christian, and some of his books, 'The Reason for God' and 'Every Good Endeavour' spring immediately to mind, I consider to be essential reading. This one is tricky to rate. I agree with everything he said and he raises some interesting points from his own experience of seeing justice done in the US. Despite this, the book never really stepped up from 'interesting true things' to the next level. I feel like the rating I've given may be considered harsh, but I judge the book partly on the author's own standards which doesn't help his case! Certainly I would recommend it and there was nothing wrong with it, but I guess that for a man who is clearly so passionate about this cause it never really captured that in print. I liked it, I would recommend it, but I wouldn't leave my reading or research into social justice there.

I am unabashedly a Tim Keller fan. He communicates with clarity, eloquence and insight, which makes him such an excellent teacher of Scripture. Most importantly, it is apparent that he speaks the truth with grace and love. Generous Justice should be mandatory reading for every Christ follower to gain a well informed and balanced understanding of what social justice entails regardless of one's political leanings.
