About book Junie B. Jones And Some Sneaky Peeky Spying (1994)
CUTE, FUN book! Junie B. is the bestest spier in the world. That's 'cause she has sneaky feet. And her nose doesn't whistle when she breathes. But guess what? Junie B. might be real sneaky. And real peeky. However, when she spies on Mrs., she could get into real trouble! Although her mother tells her time after time to not spy on people Junie B. sees her teacher Mrs. in the grocery store one day not only kissing a man but also eating grapes without paying for them first!! After seeing this happen, she knows that she cannot go home and tell her mom otherwise she will get in trouble for spying in the first place. Nevertheless, since her mom told her that she couldn’t hand-deliver the cookies she made for her teacher Junie B. decides that she will spy on her teacher to try and find out where her house is. It’s nice to see also in this book the idea of apologizing to someone if you did something that wasn’t caring etc. Many books that I have read so far do not mention that and I feel as though some kids get the wrong message and believe that they can do whatever they want and be mean to others without consequences. One of my favorite parts was when Junie B. hides in the hamper and her grandpa walks in and takes his teeth out of his mouth. Junie is so surprised, she bumps her head and he jumps up and mother comes in and says 'no more spying' and she still did anyway. This book was definitely cute and worth reading to a class of 1st- 2nd graders or even having them pair up together and read to one another! The message is cute that if you see someone do something that you feel is not good then it’s okay to tell someone instead of trying to hold it in for forever! Main message that I hope others get out of this book is that “no one is perfect, we all make mistakes and it’s our job to learn from these mistakes!”
Junie B. loves to hide in places and spy on other people. She loves to wake up Ollie while he’s sleeping, then hide in the closet so her mother won’t see her. She also wants to really hide in her teacher’s house and spy on her. During class, Junie B. found out that her teacher is putting up a “Grandparent’s Day” party and that she is in charge of bringing cookies. That afternoon, Junie B. and her mother went to the grocery store to get cookie dough for the cookies. While at the store, Junie B. sees her teacher with some guy. She spies on her teacher, seeing her kiss that man and also eating grapes! Junie B. got in trouble last time from eating marshmallows in the store and was told that it’s just like stealing. She didn’t want to tattle-tail on her teacher but was also flustered by keeping that secret. The next day in school she accidentally told the principle what she saw and talked to her teacher about it. Junie B. realized that her teacher didn’t mean to steal the grapes, she just wanted to see if they were sour or not. Junie B. then understood what she saw, but still got in trouble from her mom for spying on her teacher. We think that this book would be really good to teach the students on morals and values. It’s good that they know what is right from wrong, but they should also know that it is not nice to spy on people.

This book in the Junie B. Jones series is all about Junie and her problem regarding stealing. She sees her teacher "stealing" grapes from the supermarket and is very concerned. She doesn't know whether she should tell on her teacher or not. As the book progresses you find out that the teacher wasn't actually stealing the grapes but just taste testing to make sure she didn't get another sour bunch! This book teaches a valuable lesson for students about determining between right and wrong and when you should tell on someone, and when you shouldn't. This is a common problem among elementary school students so it would be a good book to have in a classroom.

I also used this book for one of my book commercials/talksPopular Series: I absolutely love the entire Junie B. Jones Series. They are all such wonderful books for children to read. The chapters are short and the print is large making it easy to see and read for children who are beginning to read on their own. It is especially a good introduction to novels since it is set up in chapter form, and since to chapters aren't too lengthy beginner readers will feel a sense a accomplishment in finishing each chapter in a timely manner.Like the other books in the series, the style of the text in this book is spelled out exactly as a Kindergarten would say them making the dialect very interesting for both children and adult audiences alike. One of my favorite examples of this is when Junie B. is spying on her teaching in the grocery store. She talks about looking for "Mrs." (her Kindergarten teacher) in the isle where the "pasketti and tomato sauce" is kept. There are also certain sayings that Junie B.'s grandmother will tell her such as "Curiosity killed the Cat." or "Cat got your tongue." in which June B. takes quite literally.I thought that this would be extremely appealing to children of all ages because it adds a sense of comedy to the plot, which would make reading on their own a fun and enjoyable experience.

I keep warming up to Junie B, much to my chagrin. In the first 2 books she was abrasive, sneaky, rude and annoying. I'm not sure if I've just gotten used to her ways or if all of that has been toned down. As I read the first 2 books to my 4 year old, I was sensoring a lot of Junie's comments. I found that I didn't need to do that as much with this book. Junie has a natural curiosity about her teacher's personal life in the book and I love that; I always did too.My daughter still declares she loves the Junie B books and wants to read only those 'chadder' (chapter) books....but I think we may spread our wings to some new ones & maybe we'll come back to Junie B. I still can't get over the bad grammar!!
