About book Joshua (2012)

After the fall of american banks, US money is now worthless pieces of paper, then the riots start and the country goes to hell. Our Protagonist known only as the man is trying desperately to get to his brother so he starts his journey from Kenturcky to Wisconson. Along the way he witnesses a car chase ending in a deadly accident and when he gets to one of the cars he finds a woman trapped in her vehicle and what looks to be about a 2 year old boy. As the woman lays dying the man makes his promise to her to always keep Joshua safe. Follow the Man and Joshua as they travel across country trying to reach family and all the joys and horrors they experience along the way . Good Job!! This is a book that makes your heart race with fear and anxiety as the man and the boy Joshua struggle to survive in the aftermath of the financial collapse in the United States. But woven into the emotional rollercoaster are qualities that make this story stand out- love, compassion, and mercy; all are exemplified in the one called "the man". This is the story of a man who witnesses humankind's degeneration, culminating in despicable acts as everyone struggles to find food, clothing and shelter in a world of suffering. At the heart of the turmoil are those that will kill to get what they need without a thought. As the man searches for his family he stumbles on a small boy called Joshua whose mother is killed in a road accident. Although he tries to rid himself of the burden the boy becomes another reason for living. I wondered why the man was never named. Perhaps it was to set him apart from those in this chaotic world, to make him different and not just another survivor; just one of many who will do anything to continue their existence. But this man has a soul that stuggles to maintain its morality and his faith. Although the story was dark at times there was a sense that kindness, love and mercy still exist. I liked it and hope others will read it.
