About book Jane Eyre The Graphic Novel: Original Text (2003)

This was just what I wanted- a short and sweet way to read Jane Eyre and know what people were talking about. The graphic novel definitely seemed to simplify and gloss over certain things. I wasn't a fan when things were just blatantly told to the reader, instead of showing it. But i guess that's the nature of the beast. It was a quick and enjoyable read. I'd recommend it to people who don't want to read the real version but still want to understand the plot and characters in modern day English. Can I say I am offcially in love? My breath was taken away by this story. I suppose I am a hopeless romantic and I was easily swept away by the romance of this book. Why can't modern romances compare to the classics? I am more touched by these stories of long ago than I am with the explicit-at-times books of today. There's more to be said for what's left to the imagination or the courtship of romance than the graphic tales of today. This book is of course not the original read. It is in comic book style and I grabbed it because after long wanting to read the original book, I could wait no longer and figured this would be a quick way to get the gist of the story. No different than watching the movie first, right? Well, the intention of these comic books is for young readers or even adult readers, to want to read the real thing afterward. It has definitely got me wanting to read the original even more so than before. I appreciate that this is what the goal of these publications is. If it will encourage a reader to read more classics, they have achieved what they were out to achieve. This only gets three stars because it is in comic style, so obviously it's an abbreviated version. But content-wise, once I read the original version, I may have to give that a five-star rating.

Do You like book Jane Eyre The Graphic Novel: Original Text (2003)?

mh. it was quite good overall. i enjoyed reading it. the story is great as ever and the text worked well with the pictures although at times the speech bubbles were oddly placed. and from a - i don't know - "modern" point of view, the drawings did not quite match my taste.anyways... i bought it with school in mind but this version is too hard for my pupils. should have gotten the quick text version. then as said above i don't think the graphics will cause much joy. it seems a bit old-fashioned. it might benefit from an update to make the drawings "clearer" with more contrast and lets face it, simpler. also, at times i thought there were at least three different versions of rochester and jane, they looked so different at times, hardly recognisable. jane would probably not have worn lipstick as it sometimes looks like...yeah. loved the book, the comic is nice but i whish there would be different graphics.

rating a classic such as Jane Eyre is silly I think. you may like it or not. This is an adaptation, a graphic novel that is beautifully done. Very lovely and fitting to the great classic novel. I haven't read the book, it is on my To Do in This Life list. I know the basics of the story and am enjoying this graphic novel immensely. Very well done. Great for reluctant readers, esp teenaged boys who may have to read this for English class.
