About book Imperfect Justice Updated Ed: Prosecuting Casey Anthony (2012)
I don't normally read books like this because they hurt my heart, but I made an exception for this one, it had a compassionate element that Ashton brought to it. Jeff Ashton has compiled a very detailed and thorough book on the trial of Casey Anthony, and the tragedy of poor innocent Caylee Anthony. As we all know today new evidence has been found in this case proving Casey completely guilty of her daughter's murder; this makes the "not guilty" verdict the jury reached all the more frustrating and devastating. The system failed justice for Caylee and this book has so many details explaining how and why. Ashton writes this book with great insight and description on why he feels Casey is guilty and how things got so out of hand during her trial, making the whole thing a spectacle. I appreciate his dedication of the book to Caylee Marie Anthony, instead of writing this book to sell out on fame and recognition (Like perhaps Baez did), he genuinely seems to want to put Caylee's story out there so people can learn from this, and of course never forget what happened to this poor innocent child. The verdict sickens me, but as Ashton says it is just how the system works, somtimes justice is not found through the courts. To not drive himself insane he must remind himself that he did the best he could. The whole prosecution team put everything they had in this case, and unfortunately it didn't turn out in their favor. A sad story and one I will never forget myself. If your interested in true crime books that are done tastefully this is a good one to check out. Four stars. I thought it was a very interesting presentation of the prosecutor's case against Casey Anthony. The newspaper details and TV sensationalism of the event and trial had slipped my mind, so this was a refresher course in justice, served or unserved, as you choose. If I had my life to do over, I think I'd love to be a prosecuting attorney (or a professional golfer). The crucial evidence of how exactly Casey's daughter died never surfaced, so we public jurors are left to ponder the unknowable. Well worth reading.

Got bogged down with details 1/3 of the way through. Too sad a story. Read the end and was done.
