Love to read this book with my toddler for several reasons: The gentle way the book is written and the touching illustrations create space for deep listening and connects us with the variety of forms 'quiet' can take, from surprise to friendship to uh-oh's and everything in between."The Quiet Book" is a wonderful tool for decompressing during the day or before bed, great for transition, for a short but meaningful cuddle and for assisting in processing the day's events. Truly a delightful book to have as part of any child's library. I wonder about this book. It shows various kinds of quiet, ranging from the embarrassed quiet "first look at your new haircut" quiet, to sweet quiet ("first snowfall quiet"). The illustrations are charming and fitting to the theme of "quiet." My only reservation is a question if whether small children the book seems to target would really understand most of these. I need to read it with a 3 or 4 year old to see. It's obviously a bit advanced for my 2 year old grandson. It's a really good book to use as a creative writing assignment!
Beautifully illustrated. It is a wonderful bedtime book for small children. One of my new favorites.
