This book is hard to rate. I think everyone who reads its likes the inner workings of John's mind and were really into the book until it randomly became paranormal. It doesn't happen often but it is a HUGE pet peeve of mine for the author to setup and let us feel comfortable in one world and a third of the way through the book, change it up. I almost stopped reading this book when it happened. I really don't know how a a feel and will be putting the second book in this series on the back-burner for a while. The quote from this book: If you met me on the street, you'd never guess how much I wanted to kill you. Really makes you think. All the "normal" people we pass by, smile at, and say hello to we really don't know who they are or what they're thinking. This book was interesting with a total switcheroo that made you say to yourself, "what the hell just happened?" I enjoyed the first person point of view. John is a great character and I loved being in his head. I recommend this book to any and everyone.
