Good super short story about Fallon and Jeff and how she can't have him because she is next in line and there is some tradition that says she HAS to mate a wolf....I expected a bit better. Gabe came off more like a father talking to an errant daughter than a big brother. I get he's the Apex but to make Fallon have to choose between Jeff and being next in line I didn't like that. I felt like Fallon is a strong enough character that she should have both and Jeff is a strong shifter who can easily protect her and they'd make an awesome team and pair if she did have to go to the throne and become the next Apex. Instead in order to be with Jeff Fallon has to give up her position. I'm curious though how Tanya and Gabe came to be, I know she's probably a wolf, but was that before he was Apex or during etc. or did he have to ,set prospective mates like they expect Fallon to do. So in that sense I had issues with the book, but in the Fallon and Jeff sense I really enjoyed them working together. Hooray for designing a cover with the wonderful Jeff Christopher character. But, once again, Chloe Neill has not employed an editor. Sentences like "Jeff had let him go in order to ensure sure I was alright" are inexcusable, even for a Kindle novella. The story was disjointed and rushed. I hate to give a bad review, because the Chicagoland series is creative, but the editing has been consistently poor. This is a disservice to readers that have tried to stay faithful despite that.
