About book Homem-Máquina (2009)

1) ''Finally he put the car in gear and drove off. I watched him slingshot around the next corner, alread up to forty or fifty miles per hour. I walked on. I felt vaguely outraged that such a bad person had such a good car. Because the car was the culmination of a thousand-odd years of scientific advancement. But the guy was a dick. I wondered when that had happened; that we had started making better machines than people.''2) ''By the end of each six-hour session, I felt dazed and unsure where I was. I wheeled along the corridor and saw the whole world as lines and vertices. I dreamed I was a wireframe, made of green light.''3) ''That was why I thought I was unloved: I didn't score highly enough. I had made some attempts to improve my score and also told myslef I didn't care because if that was what women wanted, something fake and temporary, I would rather be alone. And sometimes I was just lazy and would rather code things. But here I was soaking in a bath of my own filth with Lola scrubbing my shoulders, and what algorithm could explain that? That problem was nonhalting.'' I began reading Machine Man two years ago and I am ashamed to admit that I didn't finish it. Today I picked up the book again and I was completely astonished. I had absolutely no clue how I could have ever thought of putting this novel down. Max Barry's combination of logic, romance, and technology was perfection. He was able to push the boundaries of what is currently capable in science and ever so gently expanded on it. He makes you question how far is too far in science and medical advancements while driving you to ponder what we are headed for in this world. This novel has become my all time favorite and I encourage everyone to read it as well

Do You like book Homem-Máquina (2009)?

I really enjoyed the first half. The second half kind of went off the rails, but still good.
