Once again Preston & Child have collaborated on a thought provoking rip roaring adventure.Start off with stealing the Chi Rho monogram of the Book of Kells, itself being the incipit for a narrative of the life of Christ. Then discover that the vellum it was on is hiding a secret map and the vellum itself holds a secret, it's not made from traditional animal skin. Following the map to the mosquito coast, we find pirates, raging seas, lotus eaters and a living creature who is direct descendant of Polyphemus. Did Odysseus really land here? The creature is holding the secret to what may be a panacea for all mankind. News gets out and a powerful magnate tries to take it for himself for profit. The story tells of their attempts to survive and recover the panacea for all people. The kindle sample is pretty interesting but it's too soon to tell how well it's all going to come around to make sense. I'll give it a try. // Ok, now I've read the whole thing and it did come together rather nicely. Of course, there's a whole lot of disbelief that needs some suspending, but it was still a page-turner until the last few pages. I admire authors and the creativity that allows them to take Homer and write this book. This one almost got a full 5-stars from me.
Do You like book Het Verdwenen Eiland (2014)?
They take the un-believable and make it believable.
