A nice surprise!I initially wanted to read 'Scoundrel Ever After', the sixth book in this series, because it's part of the 'Tempted By His Touch' boxed-set I started reading some days ago. And then I saw this one being free on kobo, and I thought: 'Why not start with the first one?'I have to congratulate myself for the sometimes splendid ideas I have: This was really a very entertaining read!Good solid writing, a nice plot and decent characters going through some personal development. Added to this: a couple of steamy scenes and the end result was a well-rounded read, which compelled me to add the books #2-#5 to my TBR-pile.The heroine, Lady Miranda, started to grate on my nerves a bit towards the end of the story, with her indecisiveness and reluctance to make up her mind eventually, but this is just a minor quibble. So without fuss or quibble: a recommended read! This is an excellent historical romance. At first I was seriously annoyed with the heroine and her flaky responses to the hero. But then I remembered the time frame and had to consider a woman's mind in the 1800s. In that respect Miranda was no flakier and indecisive than the times dictated. Her hero, Montgomery Foxcroft, is an awesome example of a caring, virile, gentleman. I think I fell a little in love with him. Overall this is a great love story.
