About book Her And Me And You (2010)

hope this book burst into flames everywhere that its located in bookstores etc. from now on i will using the pages to pick up my dogs shit. also i hope that innocent people who just wanted to read a short contemporary book fall its scheming book cover. also i would like to say that the dialogue no point no dialogue the drunk mother and the cheating father who lets there teenager drink wine and the mother she never got out of bed the entire book pffff well ill be this book can suck it.the characters are one dimensional i felt this book wasn't ya more elementary school.i don't like the other. sorry but like hedi says: one day your in and one day your OUT!CURRENTLY TYPING in toilet because this book gave me diarrhea. Ugh. I’m not sure what I was expecting, but this wasn’t it. Okay, I lied. I know exactly what I was expecting – a dark, edgy (dare I say thriller?) about a girl who comes between a way-too-close relationship between a pair of disturbed twins. What I actually got with Her and Me and You was something much more boring. The voice of Her and Me and You was its key seller for me. The prose is sparse and too the point, and you can feel Alex’s depression running through each word. I love novels with strong voices like this one; it’s sure to stick with me for a while. Unfortunately, the great writing was the only thing worth boasting about. Her and Me and You fell into some obvious trope-ditches while on the road to awesomeness.First, there is the wild, outgoing, boy-magnet best friend. Alex’s best friend, Evie, moves on quickly after she moves. Evie gets a new boyfriend and their relationship moves incredibly fast. She is boy crazy and confident, and a huge flirt. Sadly, though, the poor girl never broke out of that mold – she will always be the better than best friend, which is fine in small doses, but I’m growing bored with that character. Alex herself is the boring, plain, and apparently flat-chested less than main character. She has a lot of tough shit going on in her life that I could actually relate to. Like I said before, her voice is strong, and I loved that she had a personality of her own. But outwardly, she put herself into the mold that Evie carved out for her, and never tried to break free from it.The twins were especially strange, as you can imagine. Fred and Adina’s relationship was a bit unbalanced – Adina was an obviously unhealthy girl, and I suppose that Fred was her enabler. This type of relationship is one that I find fascinating, most of the time. But in the case of Her and Me and You I was totally disappointed. We do not get to see too deeply into their bubble and so we don’t get to explore the real consequences of unhealthy, co-dependent relationships. Add to this lack of depth an abrupt, unresolved ending, and the whole thing left me cold. As I turned the last page, I couldn’t believe it was the end. There had been no resolution to any of the conflict – and the whole book had been about Adina’s crazy hold on Fred and Alex trying to break through it. Did she succeed? Did she give up? Did she healthily decide that these people were not good for her? I guess we’ll never know.Luckily for me, this was a short read, and I got most of it done within an hour, so I don’t feel totally cheated. But I am disappointed. I expected great, dark things from Her and Me and You but, in the end, I was met with lackluster characterization and a too-ambiguous ending, even for me.
