I really wanted to like this book a lot more than I did. I'm glad I read it, but it seemed to have more potential than it lived up to. I really enjoyed Alice Wisler's How Sweet It Is and was looking forward to this one, especially since the Outer Banks are one of my favorite places.So the setting was a winner, and the characters were too. They were very realistic, as were the everyday trials they faced. But . . . (SPOILER ALERT)I cannot believe that any thirty-year-old woman would approach a life-altering business deal in the manner Jackie does in this book. It strains credibility. I kept wanting to shout at her about that and about her so-called relationship with her "dream man."Overall this was enjoyable for the setting and characters, but the plot was a bit thin. I loved the cover of this book!!!!! That's what made me want to read it in the first place. And then that it took place on Cape Hatteras, well its just a given that it will be a great book right? WRONG. I really wanted to love this story as much as I loved the cover, but it was slow and boring and just not going anywhere for me. Towards the middle it did slightly pick up, but not fast enough. Even though last half was much much better than the first half, it still seemed to move in slow motion for me. I was happy enough with the way it ended, I like my happy endings!My favorite lines from the book - "I think about how God must rate our success and decide it has to be on much different terms. Jesus choose twelve disciples to hang out with, and had they lived today, I don't think any of their names would appear in Fortune 500 magazine"All in all - not a bad book, just not one of my favorites.
