I so wanted to like this series, and I did, but I like my HEA endings too much to keep reading and hoping for the lead characters to get over themselves. It was just getting too tedious with the unrealistic excuses and virginal reticence. Although not as well written, I was hoping for more of a Mercedes Thompson or Kate Daniels take on romance. Where feelings grow and it's worth the enjoyable wait, as you read kick ass stories, to get to the romance... Then keep reading because you like the characters so much.In these books, the plot is too predictable, the political intrigue not nearly as intriguing as the characters would have you believe by basically telling you that it is so. There are lots of fun bits to the story that make these books worth reading if you don't care so much about the romance. The characters themselves are fun even if they don't live up to their 'age' in wisdom, coming across a bit on the shallow side. More like high school students than centuries old vampires. I listened to this one and the first as audio books, and the reader did a great job. **The story of a young heiress?s initiation into the dark society of the Chicagoland Vampires continues?**Ten months after vampires revealed their existence to the mortals of Chicago, they?re enjoying a celebrity status usually reserved for the Hollywood elite. But should people learn about the Raves?mass feeding parties where vampires round up humans like cattle?the citizens will start sharpening their stakes. So now it?s up to the new vampire Merit to reconnect with her upper class family and act as liaison between humans and bloodsuckers, and keep the more unsavory aspects of the vampire lifestyle out of the media. But someone doesn?t want peace between them?someone with an ancient grudge? **### Review**Praise for the Chicagoland Vampires novels** “If you are looking for a vampiric role-model, you couldn’t do any better than Merit…Chicago is lucky to have her.”—#1 *New York Times* Bestselling Author Charlaine Harris “A wonderfully compelling vampire heroine.”—*USA Today* Bestselling Author Julie Kenner “One of my all time favorite heroines.”—*Loves Romances * “[For] fans of Charlaine Harris’s Sookie Stackhouse series and Laurell K. I just cant get enough of this series! An entertaining and action packed ride from start to finish! In Friday Night Bites Merit is "dating" Morgan, still has feelings for Ethan that she's uncomfortable with, still hasn't figured out what's wrong with her vampire self, and now she has to deal with an upset in the supernatural community. Needless to say there is enough drama and action in this novel to keep you hooked. I couldn't put it down. I'm still loving Merit as a MC, Ethan is slowly growing on me, I love Morgan, Catcher, Jeff, Lindsay, Luc, Malik, and Grandpa Merit. Mallory has her good and bad moments, but all in all a good supporting role. The appearance of the Apex shifter is really exciting and I cant wait to see what happens with him involved. I love the writing style, the dialogue, and the world Chloe Neill has built. These books are a fast paced, fun read and you just wont be able to stop once you start.
