About book Guardians Of The Galaxy, Vol. 1: Cosmic Avengers (2013)
Disappointing after the incredible volume 2 run by Abnett and Lanning. Why is Iron Man here? Yeah, I get that they'd want to include him to help introduce newer readers to the Guardians of the Galaxy (which, I admit, was hard before, unless you read Annihilation/Annihilation: Conquest) but he literally has no significance to the plot, whatsoever. I'm near a third way this overall volume (past this collection), and I'm really hoping it'll pick up soon. So far though, the shadow of what's past lingers over. A great place to start with the Guardians of the galaxy. This volume has Tony Stark/Iron Man in it, and is a nice addition. He grounds the story in the Marvel universe, and also serves to show us just how different this title's universe is from the "normal" superhero universe we're used to.The Angela storyline doesn't resolve itself, nor does any of the other storylines, really, but a funny introduction to these characters and this team.
