About book Guardianes De La Galaxia, Vol. 1 (2014)
This book is absolutely brimming with awesome artwork, and that alone warrants peeking into a copy. The layouts, designs and colors hit on every level, creating an exciting, fun atmosphere. The plot, though limited by the measly three issues we get in here, not counting for bonus content, is more clever than I expected at first glance, giving Starlord a rebooted origin, and us an intriguing rebooted villain. Cosmic marvel is always a blast, and Bendis' snappy dialogue gets us from a to be comfortably and usually with a smile on our faces. It's a step away from the usual Abnett space-romps, but its a welcome shift that paints the Guardians more as renegades than action-politicians. There are a few lapses in logic for the sake of a joke (such as the Captain Britain jab) and I couldn't tell you why in the world Iron Man needed to be in this book, but for the limited space allowed, we get a pretty nifty (and pretty pretty) intro into a new Guardians book. This is not a bad place to jump in, especially for movie-going-converts. Bendis, one of my favorite marvel writers, kicks off a great entry point to a series of space adventure and lovable anti heroes. This series feels closer to the slapstick and quick wit of the recent Gunn film. The story isnt as complex as the previous series by Abnett that really reworked these small time Marvel characters. But it is fast paced, fun, and entertaining. A light hearted comic, like Bendis does so well.

An overall enjoyable look at some of the backstories. Groot and Rocket remain my faves.
