Excellent graphic novel by the son of one of the Seattle detectives who helped crack the case. Skin-crawling depiction of the killer's mind, and amazing untold story of how he plea bargained out of a death sentence (life in prison instead) by secretly working with police to solve several cold-case files. Gives you new admiration for the tenacity and humanity of many homicide detectives, who are often driven more by the need for answers to unspeakable questions, and the desire to give families of the missing closure, than by a desire for vengeance or justice. True story following the lead detective on the case of one of the worst serial killers in American history. This isn't a 'piece together the mystery yourself' suspense novel. Rather it focuses on the life and frustrations of the detective working the case. The detective's son wrote this book, giving it an intimate and personal touch. The beginning is super unsettling. The first few pages lingered in my mind throughout the rest of the book.

Interesting idea and one of my first graphic novels. Makes me want to read more on the topic.
